Learn about this study for adults with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG).
The EPIC study is evaluating and comparing two investigational medications that inhibit FcRn.
If you are eligible, you will be assigned to receive one of the two investigational medications. One investigational medication is given every 2 weeks for 10 weeks. The other is given once a week for 4 weeks, followed by a break.
Participants who receive the 4-week investigational medication may then have the option to receive the investigational medication that is given every 2 weeks for 10 weeks.
Study doctors want to evaluate and compare the safety and efficacy of the investigational medications in two ways:
1. When they are given to patients who have never used this type of medication
2. When patients switch from one investigational medication to the other
The results of this study may provide more information about the investigational medications and how they could be used to manage gMG.
Generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) is a rare autoimmune disorder that causes muscle weakness and muscle fatigue. It can affect the muscles of the eyes, face, neck, throat, arms, and legs.
You will be told which investigational medication you are receiving:
- One investigational medication is given every 2 weeks for 10 weeks
- The other investigational medication is given once a week for 4 weeks, followed by a break
- If you receive the 4-week investigational medication, you may then have the option to receive the investigational medication that is given every 2 weeks for 10 weeks
Throughout the study, you may continue to take your current gMG therapy (if you are taking any).
Your total study participation will last 24 to 36 weeks (about 6 to 9 months).
